Today's list takes into account the most different aspects such as quality - or the lack of it in engine, gearbox, parts, bodywork, design and many other components of the models on the list.
Could it be that some of the worst cars produced is one of your favorites? To find out, you'll need to read on. Let's go there?
The 15 worst cars sold in Brazil
Find out now which are the worst cars sold in Brazil.
15. Fiat Marea
The target of many jokes, Marea could not be missing from this list. Today the model is an example of a car that nobody wants to buy and is a thorn in the side of those who resell cars.
The model had different engine variations being offered with 1.6 engines; 1.8 and 2.0 and even turbo versions. However, the car had a series of mechanical problems. Not to mention the cases of models that caught fire.
Today it's not hard to find memes that show him on fire. The Marea was discontinued in 2007, giving way to models like the Linea and Punto.
14. Daewoo Hope
Sold in Brazil with a 2.0 engine and equipped with standard items, the Daewoo I hope arrived here in mid-1994 with three different versions and full of standard items to conquer the Brazilian consumer.
However, some factors weighed against the vehicle, the main ones being the absence of a dealer and the high import tax. This quickly caused the model to be rejected and gained the reputation of one of the worst cars sold in the national territory.
Today anyone who has a Daewoo I hope can hardly get rid of it.
13. Volkswagen Polo 1.0
The Polo is a model that has received a lot of praise and recently received a total restyling making it a more than attractive car to have in the garage.
In an attempt to popularize the model in 2003, Volkswagen produced the model with a 1.0 16V engine with 79 horsepower. But the low power did not please the Brazilian consumer at all.
So the Polo 1.0 was discontinued in the same year and today it is considered not only one of the worst cars ever sold here, but also has a reputation for being bad at resale.
12. EcoSport 1.0
And since we are talking about a car with a weak engine, it is impossible not to mention the EcoSport 1.0.
Launched in 2003 and nicknamed of jeep at the time, EcoSport sold more than 25 thousand units in its first year of life and was offered with three different engine options: 1.0 of 8v with supercharger; 1.6 and 2.0.
Due to its weight, the version with 1.0 engine was attacked by consumers and the specialized media at the time, being withdrawn from the line later. Like the Polo 1.0, reselling the EcoSport with this type of engine is difficult.
11. Mercedes Class A
The Class A appeared for the first time in mid-1997 at the Geneva Motor Show, but it only started to run in Brazil in 1994. Over the years, the model was discontinued in Europe in 2004 and its end was decreed here. in 2005.
But why was Class A bad? Not a Mercedes? So it is! At first the model had great sales figures. However, mechanical problems combined with the high values of specialized labor made the small one a heavy option for the pocket.
Over the years the model has been falling into oblivion. Today it is fondly remembered by some and as one of the worst cars sold in Brazil by others.
10. Fiat Linea
As mentioned before, Linea came in as a substitute for the less desired and problematic Marea.
However, the model did not have the expected highlight and one of the main reasons was its problematic Dualogic gearbox.
The model that was launched in September 2008 had its end decreed in January 2017 along with many other models of the brand, as was the case with the Bravo, Freemont and Idea, for example.
9. Peugeot 408
The Peugeot 408 was aggressively marketed by the French automaker, including its look being used in the Stock Car between the 2007 and 2009 seasons. Although it was a well-equipped car, it had more attractive models as direct sales rivals.
At that time, the French automaker did not enjoy the confidence of Brazilians and the model was a justification for the lack of confidence of Brazilians. The 408 had some transmission problems that were difficult and expensive to fix.
In 2019, already with low sales figures, the model was discontinued along with its smaller brother – the Peugeot 308.
8. Cherry Celer
The Celer is yet another model that didn't please Brazilians. On the market since 2013, the car has already gained design and engine variations and is still considered bad.
Although the design catches the eye at first glance, the poor quality finish and after-sales service make it a bad vehicle. If we add to this the fact of prejudice rooted under the chinese models, many will directly call Celer bad.
The Celer is a classic example of a car and a wedding. When buying the owner literally marries him.
7. Jac J3
Here we have another classic example of a Chinese car whose quality is questionable.
Jac Motors started its activities in Brazil in 2010 with some specific models and among them was the Jac J3 that competed with the also Chinese and recently mentioned Celer. In addition to established models such as the Renault Sandero.
Although it had standard items as a way to please consumers, the finish was very bad and the after-sales service was horrible: The result was rejection and a bad reputation.
6. Peugeot Hoggar
In addition to being bad, the French automaker's small pickup was somewhat ambitious, after all, it tried to enter the market dominated by Saveiro and Strada. Among those who bought the model most regretted it.
In addition to a front optic set beyond doubtful in terms of beauty, the Hoggar still had a fragile suspension and an engine that couldn't take the stride when riding with a lot of load.
Experts claim that the automaker's lack of experience in the pickup segment has contributed to the model being considered to this day one of the worst cars sold in Brazil.
5. Citroen AirCross
The Citroen AirCross is a classic case of bad and good model. Although it sounds a bit confusing, let's try to explain what this means.
The model mixes characteristics of different segments and this is its biggest differential. But that was literally a shot in the foot. The AirCross cannot be considered either an SUV or a minivan. So it ends up displeasing everyone.
The wrong mix of categories made the model have shortages and excesses of items and accessories at the same time. Not by chance did it end up on this thankless list.
4. Gol 1.0 16V
Although it is no longer a sales leader, the Gol is a market success for which we all have to take our hats off.
However, two versions in particular are considered horrible: The 1.0 16V and the 1.0 16V turbo and the reason why they were considered bad is fair.
Both engines had a specific failure in the camshaft pulley with phase variator. This led to the need for a head rebuild.
The complaint and negative repercussions were so great that Volkswagen, instead of trying to improve the engines, opted to discontinue them. Understandable, isn't it?
3. Chevrolet Agile
Few notice, but Agile was short-lived, being on the market “only between the years 2009 and 2013. The problems started even in the project that did not have large amounts of money.
The Hatch was conceived during the 2008 global economic crisis that hit GM hard. Consequently Chevrolet was also affected.
The model had the 4,200 platform. Already old and inherited from the first generation of the Corsa. This naturally made Agile gain an outdated architecture that imposed an uncomfortable position for the driver.
In addition, the height of the bodywork was high, which caused stability. And to complete, we can still say that the design was never unanimous. Like this,
The outdated architecture imposed an uncomfortable driving position, while the high body height impaired stability. And the design was never unanimous.
2. Chery QQ
The Chery QQ caused a huge stir upon its launch in the far-off year 2011. The Chinese had a huge amount of standard items and sold for around R$ 23 thousand. But the low cost literally took its toll.
The engine was fragile, the finish left a lot to be desired and although it had an airbag and ABS brakes, many owners who had an accident with it claimed that the model was not as safe as the automaker said.
Although it underwent a makeover, the low quality of the model made sales decrease over the years until in 2019 the automaker decided to take it out of line.
1. Renault Symbol
Symbol doesn't have very serious problems. The key to being considered a bad model is its design, after all, the model was built entirely on top of its younger brother, the Renault Clio, which was already outdated.
The old architecture weighed mainly on the lack of space and on the design that pleased few. Some owners report that the design of the model was poor as it was a bit unstable on the roads.
And to make matters worse, the “sedan” still suffered internal competition from the first generation Logan, which was more beautiful, spacious and cheaper. There was no way the Symbol was marked as a bad car.
