Therefore, to have access to these services offered by the bank, you do not need to have a current account opened with them, but you must request and unlock the Citizen Card to check your balance, statement and to withdraw your benefit.

First of all, when you receive the card at your address, you need to create and unlock your password. You can do this by calling Caixa Econômica Federal or by going to the nearest bank branch. 

However, if you have used your card before and now it appears blocked, it is because you entered the wrong password three or more times. So, the blocking happens automatically as a security measure so that you do not run the risk of losing the benefit if someone else makes the withdrawal.

Therefore, it is very important to memorize your correct password or have it written down somewhere so you don't forget it, this way you avoid being blocked.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to unlock your Citizen Card online. This is because unlocking is done through Caixa's telephone service channel, on number 0800 726 0207 or in person at the bank branch.

So, if you prefer to unlock it by phone, choose the option “unlock Citizen Card” and press the number provided with this option. Then, confirm your details with the attendant and within 24 hours your card will be available for use.

Furthermore, it is important to note that after unlocking the card, you need to choose a six-digit password and go to a Caixa branch or self-service terminal to register it.

However, if you have any difficulty unlocking your Citizen Card over the phone, you can go to a bank branch with your personal documents, as well as your Citizen Card and your NIS, and ask the attendant to unlock it for you. Remember to write down the password in a safe place so that you don't lose access to the benefit.
