Find out if you can receive the salary allowance
If you've ever seen salary bonuses and PIS together, you probably thought they were the same thing. Or else you didn't understand the difference. This is a very common doubt, because the two always appear together. This is because, currently, the salary bonus is called PIS. However, they are completely different benefits. Therefore, in today's article, we will explain what the salary bonus is and what it has to do with the PIS. Continue reading and check it out!
What is the PIS/Pasep salary bonus?
Firstly, it is worth explaining what PIS is. Basically, the PIS, or Social Integration Program, is a benefit for those who worked registered between 1971 and 1988. That is, at that time, companies made annual deposits proportional to the length of service of employees. As well as what we currently call FGTS. Incidentally, nowadays PIS is no longer paid and has been transferred in full to the FGTS.
In this way, the government released the money several times in recent years. Therefore, in 2019 it was the last chance for workers to check if there was still value available. But only those over 60 years of age, retired or with a serious illness could carry out the withdrawal.
Therefore, the salary bonus is an annual benefit paid to some registered workers. In this sense, see the conditions to receive this benefit:
- Be registered with the PIS;
- Have a signed portfolio for at least 5 years;
- Not having received remuneration greater than 2 minimum wages in the last year;
- Work at least 30 days with a formal contract in the last year;
- The employer must update the data in the Annual Social Information List (Rais or E-social).
Incidentally, the salary allowance had been suspended since 2020. Now, in 2022, the payment schedule has already been released. In addition, the values have also been updated. See available calendar:
Birth month | Pay day |
January | february 8th |
February | February, 10th |
March | February 15th |
April | February 17th |
May | February 22nd |
June | February, 24 |
July | March, 15 |
August | March 17th |
September | march 22 |
October | March 24th |
November | March 29th |
December | March 31 |
What are the benefits of the allowance?
In summary, the main benefits of the allowance are the receipt of an amount proportional to the months worked. That is, the time you worked in a year influences the value of the benefit. Therefore, the calculation is based on the value of the minimum wage and also on the number of months worked.
In 2022, the minimum wage is R$1212.00. Therefore, the amount of the salary allowance will be R$101.00. In this sense, it is worth remembering that the benefit will be paid with the labor records of 2020. This is because, due to the pandemic, the benefit was suspended and transferred to emergency aid.
Who is entitled to the salary allowance?
In short, the salary allowance is paid both to workers in private and public companies. That is, in the case of private companies, the benefit is linked to PIS, whereas in public companies, it is linked to PASEP. Therefore, see the prerequisites to receive the salary bonus in 2022:
- Be registered with the PIS;
- Have a signed portfolio for at least 5 years;
- Not having received remuneration greater than 2 minimum wages in the last year;
- Work at least 30 days with a formal contract in the last year;
- The employer must update the data in the Annual Social Information List (Rais or E-social).
How do you know if you can receive the allowance?
Finally, you can check whether or not you can receive the allowance. To do this, you need to have a citizen card and also have a password. In addition, the government released a new form of consultation: through the digital work portfolio application. By the way, public workers can call Banco do Brasil directly. This is the bank responsible for paying the benefit.
