Understand everything that has changed with Pix
Pix is the Central Bank's instant payment method. Without a doubt, this tool has completely changed the Brazilian financial scenario. The chance to transfer money instantly and without paying anything made life easier for many people. However, it also opened the door to scams and fraud. Therefore, the Central Bank instituted some new rules and created Pix Noturno. That is, it defined a period in which some rules come into force.
In short, any Pix transaction carried out by individuals from 8 pm to 6 am is limited to R$1,000.00. Before, there was already this rule. However, the customer could choose when the night shift started, between 8 pm and 11:59 pm. In the new configuration, it is possible to choose only between 20:00 and 22:00.
In this article, we'll show you everything that's changed and help you understand the new nighttime Pix rules. Continue reading and check it out!
Night Pix: why did the rules change?
Firstly, the Pix rules changed mainly for safety. To avoid criminal acts such as fraud, scams and even lightning kidnappings. In other words, this is a Central Bank measure to alleviate urban violence using Pix.
Coincidentally, these crimes actually happen at night. Mainly because it is a time with emptier streets, without many witnesses. In this sense, the new rules promise to help in the prevention of these cited crimes.
Everything you need to know about PIX
Pix took popularity in Brazil, but do you know how it works and what exactly is it? See here and clear all your doubts about this new procedure.
What has changed in Pix Noturno: know the new rules
Basically, with the changes, the transfer value of the night Pix is limited from 20:00 to 06:00. During this period, it is only possible to make Pix of up to R$1,000.00. As of October 4, operations were already limited. However, the customer could choose the start of the night period between 20:00 and 23:59. Now that rule has changed, you can only choose between 8 pm and 10 pm to start.
In addition, customers who do not express their opinion about choosing the start of the Pix Nocturno will have the 20:00 hours maintained. The deadline for choosing the Pix limitation is July 29, 2022. This change is positive, as previously each user had a personalized time for the transfer. With standardized values, the service is much simpler and faster.
While this change may upset many customers, it's what you need to prevent scams. In addition, for those who want to increase their limit, they can ask the bank. The financial institution will analyze and has between 24 and 38 hours to effect the increase.

Choice of night period
Above all, the main change in the new Pix Noturno rules is the choice of time. Since October 4th, Pix transfers were already limited in value. However, the customer could choose any start time between 20:00 and 23:59. That way, each one had their own personalized transfer time.
To avoid scams, fraud and also to standardize, the Central Bank established two schedules for Night Pix:
- 20h to 06h;
- 10 pm to 6 am.
In this sense, customers who wish to choose the 10:00 pm time slot must notify us by July 29, 2022. Otherwise, the 8:00 pm time slot will normally remain in the account settings.
Limit value for transfer via Pix
The limit value for transfers is the main security measure. As much as the value of R$1,000.00 may displease many people, it is an initial value to guarantee more security. However, this value does have a chance to change. To make the change, just ask your bank. After the analysis period, the bank has between 24 and 38 hours to carry out the limit increase.
Precautionary Block
Likewise, the Precautionary Block is also a Central Bank security measure. This measure is similar to that used on a credit card. That is, when there is any suspicious operation, the bank can carry out a preventive blocking of resources. This block can remain for up to 72 hours. During this period, the institution must carry out an analysis of what happened. Thus, it may be even simpler when it comes to refunding the customer for the money lost in the fraud.
Special Return Mechanism
Furthermore, the Special Return Mechanism (MED) exists precisely to return money. That is, it works as a support for victims of scams and fraud who have lost their savings. The MED serves both when the institution recognizes a scam and when the consumer identifies it. That is, it often happens that users make transfers and immediately realize that they have been victims of a scam.
In these cases, it is still necessary to register an Occurrence Bulletin and notify the institution immediately. Only then will it be possible to offer assistance to the victim. So, as desperate as it is to lose your money to fraud, there is now a trust fund.
Finally, now you know the new Pix Noturno rules and can protect yourself even more from fraud. As much as some people see the changes as unnecessary, they can be essential in combating urban violence.
