Entrance exam
First, we have the entrance exam, which is one of the main ways to enter the most popular courses in Brazil.
In summary, all Brazilian universities have their own entrance exam, where they create a test with about 90 questions related to the subjects you took in High School so that you can enter them.
To pass, you need to get one of the best grades to be chosen from the available positions.
For example, let's say you chose a course that has 40 seats. To enter it, your grade needs to be among the top 40 of that vestibular.
Generally, entrance exams can take place from once a year. Private universities usually offer entrance exams all year round for you to enter.
Application can be done online or in person at the educational institution, and you may have to pay an application fee ranging from R$ 50.00 to up to R$ 200.00. It all depends on the institution.
And either
Enem, the acronym for National High School Examination, is a test created by the Federal Government. It was created in 1998 with the objective of evaluating the performance of high school students.
From it, you can enter government programs to gain access to public and private universities with scholarships.
In addition, some universities use Enem to select their future students and, therefore, do not need to invest in their own entrance exam.
Most of the time, those who want to enter the most popular courses in Brazil usually take both the Enem and the university entrance exams to increase their chances of entering.
sisu
Sisu, an acronym for Unified Selection System, is a Federal Government program created in 2010 that allows students to access vacancies in the most competitive courses in Brazil at public universities in the country.
For this, the student must take the Enem test and, with the score acquired, enroll in the courses offered by Sisu.
Namely, this government program opens vacancies twice a year: at the beginning of the first semester, and at the beginning of the second semester.
In this way, students have these two chances to use their score acquired in the Enem and, thus, enter the desired college.
pronounce
Prouni, the acronym for University for All Program, is another Federal Government program that gives access to colleges.
But, unlike Sisu, through Prouni you can enter a private university with scholarships from 50% to 100%.
To participate in the program, you must have taken the Enem in the previous year to use your grade and your family income is within the stipulated to get a scholarship. And, just like Sisu, you also have the chance to enroll in Prouni twice a year.
faithful
Finally, there is also the Fies program, an acronym for Student Financing Fund. It is a MEC program that helps pay for your undergraduate course.
