The Tarifa Social de Energia benefit is an aid created by the Brazilian government to provide easy access to electricity for all of the country's needy population.
In this way, low-income families are entitled to a discount on the total amount of their invoice. This allows them to get electricity for less.
In recent years, high energy tariffs have become a major problem for low-income families. Therefore, ensuring that the amount is reduced can help with other household expenses.
So, if you want to know how to register and receive the benefit, read on! We will show you step by step how to achieve a reduction of up to 65%.
How to register for the Social Energy Tariff benefit?
Since January 2022, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has automatically registered for the Social Energy Tariff benefit.
For this, it is necessary that the beneficiary family has an updated registration in CadÚnico. Those who receive the Benefit of Continued Benefit are also entitled to the discount.
That way, if you are not enrolled in either of the two programs, it is important to look for the CRAS in your region.
After including your data, the Federal Government with the energy dealerships check if you and your family are able to receive the aid.
Furthermore, if you meet the requirements for the Social Energy Tariff benefit and still do not receive the discount, it is important to contact the energy distributor in your region.
This can happen in several ways. First, through the distributor's website. You can also call the call center, or go in person with the necessary documents.
How do you know if you are already registered for the benefit?
Finding out if you already receive the Social Energy Tariff benefit is very simple! At first, it is possible to check if you are registered from your light ticket.
When you receive your monthly electricity bill, look for the notice from the energy distributor informing you if there was a discount. Remembering that the reduction in value occurs according to family consumption. For example:
- Monthly consumption up to 30kWh – 65% discount;
- Monthly consumption from 31 kWh to 100 kWh – 40% discount;
- Monthly consumption from 101 kWh to 220 kWh – 10% discount;
- Consumption greater than 220 kWh – No discount.
How to transfer the Social Energy Tariff in case of change of address?
Well, in case of change of address, it is necessary to update the data in CadÚnico. Only in this way will you continue to receive the benefit of the Social Energy Tariff.
You can also look for your city's energy distributor to make this change. In this case, it is important to have your personal documents and proof of the new address with you.
Now that you already know everything about the Social Energy Tariff, how about getting to know another important benefit offered by the Federal Government?
