What is the Brazil, Light and Gas Aid?
Firstly, Auxílio Brasil is the pillar program for electricity and gas benefits. Therefore, the program works as an income transfer to families in poverty and extreme poverty.
That is, family groups in social vulnerability. In this sense, as already mentioned, the objective of Auxílio Brasil is to replace the Bolsa Família Program, but to continue operating in a similar way. In addition, the value of the Brazil Aid installment starts at R$ 600.
Thus, moving to the Gas Aid, this benefit is linked to the Brazil Aid. Therefore, it was created to subsidize the expenses of family groups with cooking gas.
According to the ANP (National Petroleum Agency), the cylinder can reach R$130 in some cities. Therefore, the government will subsidize families every two months with the full amount.
Finally, unlike other aids that work as receipt of money, the Social Tariff of Luz works in a different way. In this way, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) stipulates the Social Tariff automatically.
In addition, according to Agência Brasil, currently 12.3 million families are part of the aid. In this sense, the government's expectation is that the new Social Tariff encompasses over 11 million family groups.
What are the benefits of Auxílio Brasil, Luz e Gas?
In short, Auxílio Brasil offers installments at an initial value of R$ 600. Therefore, the main focus is on improving the situation of families. Therefore, the aid aims to offer assistance in all areas.
From income, employment, education and also health. In this way, Auxílio Brasil intends to guarantee the income of families to generate the emancipation of this population.
Also, speaking of Gas Aid, it came at a good time. That's because this is an essential product for the day to day of most families.
However, the price of gas has been rising steadily. Therefore, it became even more necessary to create a program that would offer assistance in this matter.
Luz's social tariff, on the other hand, works with discounts on families' monthly bills. Basically, it's like this:
Up to 30 kWh/month | 65% discount |
From 31 to 100 kWh/month | 40% discount |
From 101 to 220 kWh/month | 10% discount |
Above 220 kWh/month | there is no discount |
In addition, indigenous and quilombola families have access to greater discounts. Therefore, anyone registered with CadÚnico can receive:
Up to 50 kWh/month | 100% discount |
From 51 to 100 kWh/month | 40% discount |
From 101 to 220 kWh/month | 10% discount |
Above 220 kWh/month | there is no discount |
Who is entitled to assistance?
In principle, to receive the Brazil, Light and Gas Aid, you must be registered in the Single Registry. In addition, the program serves only families in poverty or extreme poverty. Therefore, it is also necessary that the family has among its members:
- Pregnant women;
- Breastfeeding mothers;
- Children and adolescents between 0 and 21 years old.
Furthermore, being in a situation of poverty is when the family group has a monthly income between R$105.01 and R$210.00 per person. In the situation of extreme poverty, families receive R$105.00 or less per capita monthly family income.
