13. Northwestern University – $9.8 billion
Located in the city of Evanston, in the state of Illinois, the NorthwesternUniversity is an American educational institution founded in 1851, and is considered one of the richest universities in the world thanks to its endowment of 9.8 billion dollars. Today, Northwestern has a student population from more than 100 countries and offers degrees in 190 disciplines.
To give you an idea of how important Northwestern University is to research, it funds approximately 1,500 laboratories between its Evanston and Chicago campuses, having one of the highest research rates in the world. Due to this concern with maintaining excellence, the university has in its list of professors and alumni 19 Nobel Prize winners, in addition to 38 Pulitzer Prize winners, 6 MacArthur Genius Fellows, 16 Rhodes Scholars, 65 members of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of the United States and two justices of the Supreme Court of the United States.
