22. University of Southern California – $5.5 billion
Located in Los Angeles, California, the University of Southern California (USC) was founded in 1880, making it the oldest private university in the state. With around 43 thousand students, 23% of which are foreigners, USC is currently the North American university with the most international students.
To be on our list, you must already imagine that USC is one of the richest in the world – thanks to its 5.5 billion dollar endowment. With so much money, the university has outstanding professors, such as Leonard Adleman, winner of the 2002 Turing Prize; Frank Gehry, architect who won the Pritzker Prize in 1989; Murray Gell-Mann, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1968; Daniel McFadden of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2000; George A. Olah won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1994 and Arieh Warshel won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2013. Imagine studying at a university with so many renowned professors, huh?!
