04. Wolfsschanze
Also known as the Wolf's Den, the Wolfsschanze was the code name for one of Adolf Hitler's largest headquarters (HQ) during World War II. The complex was located near Rastenburg (present-day Kętrzyn), then in East Prussia and now part of Poland, and it was there that the failed assassination attempt of 20 July 1944, planned by German resistance groups to kill the Führer, took place.
Currently, the Wolfsschanze is undergoing a restoration process. This is because Hitler's former headquarters, made up of several bunkers, is trying to shake off its image as a “macabre Disneyland”. The place will be revitalized to begin focusing on raising awareness among its visitors.
