03. Cradle of Humankind – more than 3 million years
From the earliest times of history, Africa has been the cradle of humanity, as it was on the African continent where the first ancestors of planet Earth emerged. Not surprisingly, there is a place dedicated to this that is more than 3 million years old.
And what place is this?! It's called the Cradle of Humankind and is located in South Africa, more specifically in Maropeng Visitor Center, close to the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria. Recognized as a Historic Site in 1999, expect to find the Cradle of Humankind the richest treasure trove of ancient hominin fossils on Earth.
