More than 22 thousand years old, Göbekli Tepe, approximately 15 km northeast of Şanlıurfa (Urfa) in southeastern Turkey, is a sanctuary, being the oldest in the world. So old that the monumental complex was built when men were still learning to cultivate plants and domesticate animals. So, can you imagine this moment from our past?! Pretty crazy, right? 

Göbekli Tepe is home to several circular structures formed by a dozen stone pillars, cut in the shape of a T, up to 5.5 meters high. However, the most striking thing is not the size of the monoliths, but their decorations: reliefs and engravings of foxes, bulls, lions, cranes, ducks, snakes and some humans, an entire fauna carved into the limestone at a time when humanity was unaware of metals, only with basalt and flint tools. Due to the importance of the site, UNESCO registered Göbekli Tepe as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity and, since then, it has been open to visitors.
