ProUni is a program that offers scholarships at private universities. Therefore, it is a government initiative to promote democratic access to higher education. In fact, for many people ProUni is the only alternative to access a university.
However, it still takes a lot of study, since the program also uses the ENEM score as a basis. In addition, ProUni is intended exclusively for students who studied high school in a public school or received a scholarship at a private school.
In that sense, today we're going to explain everything about ProUni. Read on for full details!
What is the ProUni program?
In short, ProUni is a federal government initiative to expand access to higher education in Brazil. By the way, it is intended for low-income students. That is, those who attended high school in public schools or received scholarships from private schools. Therefore, the ProUni program offers partial and full scholarships to students, based on the ENEM test. The higher the score on the exam, the greater the chance of getting a job. Like SISU, ProUni is also open for enrollment twice a year. See the types of scholarships offered by the program below.
full scholarships
Basically, these are scholarships that cover 100% of tuition fees. In this sense, the student does not have to pay anything to college. Normally, this type of scholarship is intended for students who have a monthly family income of up to one and a half minimum wages per person.
partial grants
Although many students pursue the 100% scholarship, the ProUni program also offers the 50% scholarships from the tuition fee. Therefore, the other half must be paid by the student. However, this amount can be paid by the Federal Government Student Financing, FIES. Finally, it is worth remembering that this scholarship is only for those who have a monthly family income of up to three minimum wages per person.
What are the benefits of ProUni?
From now on, it is important to say that the main benefit of ProUni is the expansion of access to university. According to the National Education Portal, since the creation of the program in 2005, more than 2.47 million students have benefited from ProUni.
That is, people who managed to complete a higher education course and change the professional destiny of their lives. Therefore, ProUni ends up impacting the lives of several Brazilian families.
