Cars that will be discontinued in 2020: Find out what they are
Find out now which cars will be discontinued in 2020
Chevrolet Cobalt
With the launch of Onix Plus, Chevrolet said that Cobalt would not leave the line.
So far, the model is still sold at dealerships, but according to information from brand representatives, the units sold are 2019/2020.
Once stocks run out, the Chevrolet Cobalt will reach the end of its journey. Its smaller brother, Joy Plus (formerly known as Prisma) has survived and is expected to leave the market only at the end of 2022.
ford fusion
The prospects are bleak for the Ford Fusion. The American automaker has already stated that the model, which is produced in Mexico and exported to the USA and Brazil, will have its production ended.
According to Ford itself, a direct replacement is ruled out, as the brand will abandon the medium and large sedan segment to focus on SUVs. A Bronco's arrival is an example of that.
The model is still being sold at dealerships, but under the seal of production and model 2019/2020.
Hyundai IX35
The Hyundai IX35 may not even be discontinued in 2020, but its future is somewhat uncertain.
The reason for the model to be on the list of cars that will be discontinued in 2020 is its low market share.
In addition to suffering consecutive defeats to competitors from another brand, Creta makes direct internal competition for being more modern and having similar values.
Although the 2020 model is being marketed, and there is a production contract between Hyundai and Caoa, the South Korean company refuses to renew it.
The imbroglio is so great that it is being analyzed in the court of justice of Frankfurt in Germany. From our experience in the field, it is very likely that 2020 will be the end of the line for the IX35.
Volkswagen Fox
The Fox may even earn a living and survive another year, but if that happens, the models will likely be marketed as 2020/2021.
the survival of small hatch is linked to its commercial performance. In 2019, the model was the 19th best-selling car here with more than 38,000 units registered.
The problem is that their registrations have been suffering constant declines. It is important to remember that SpaceFox has already been discontinued precisely because of its poor sales performance.
Generations that will be discontinued in 2020
Like some cars that will be discontinued in 2020, there are also generations that are saying goodbye to make way for their successors, which will only have their names, but which in practice will be completely different. Let's know what they are?
Renault Duster
As we have already shown here, the new duster went through some changes that are easy to notice, but left something to be desired.
The car was yes, and is considered by the French automaker as a new generation, but just by looking, it is possible to find many similarities with the previous generation. In addition, the engine is without a doubt the weak point of this "renovation"
The new Renault Duster has only one engine option, the “outdated” 1.6 Sce with 120 horsepower.
The acclaimed 2.0-litre engine was discontinued and the natural replacement, which would be the 1.3-litre turbo, has not yet appeared here. Something that can hinder sales.
chevrolet tracker
The Tracker is yet another model that will have its generation renewed.
The model that was previously manufactured and imported from Mexico has come and gone in the Brazilian market and is now trying to establish itself once and for all as a competitive and attractive SUV.
In addition to the renewed look, the most basic versions of the new chevrolet tracker bring under the hood a 1.0 turbo flex 3-cylinder engine, capable of yielding up to 116 horsepower and 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The superior versions, on the other hand, are equipped with an unprecedented 1.2 turbo engine, also with three cylinders, flex-fuel, but only with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Without a doubt a “plus” to face the competition.
Peugeot 208
Considered the “flagship” of the French automaker in Brazil, the 208 will gain an incredible new generation.
The model will be the same as the European one that was launched last year. Like many other vehicles, the new 208 had its launch and sales hampered by the new coronavirus pandemic.
The current generation of the 208 is manufactured at the Porto Real factory in RJ, but the new one will be produced in Argentina, at the automaker's factory in the city of El Palomar and will be imported into Brazil with the commercial benefits assured by Mercosur.
The hatch is an important part of Peugeot's plans to increase its share of the Brazilian automotive market from 2021.
Honda FIT
The fourth generation of the Honda Fit was presented at the last edition of the Tokyo Motor Show and is expected here in Brazil in the second half of 2020.
Although it has been completely reworked, the mode maintains the focus on the use of interior space and practicality inside the cabin.
In addition to the aesthetic renovation, Fit has new features in the engine. For the first time, the model will be equipped with a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit with three cylinders and direct injection combined with a CVT transmission.
In the European market, the new generation Fit will have a hybrid version, powered by a 1.5 liter combustion engine powered by gasoline and an electric one.
