What are the requirements to obtain this benefit?
The National Social Security Institute has determined 3 rules that need to be fulfilled if you want to get INSS sickness benefit. Are they:
- Quality of insured: contributing to the INSS, whether as an employee, MEI, self-employed person;
- Grace period: the contribution must be for at least 12 months;
- Inability to work: you must show that you are truly unable to work, for example, using a certificate.
This way, you can be sure that you will get INSS sickness benefit.
How do I request Sickness Benefit?
Firstly, you can only request sick pay from the 15th day that you are not going to work.
Therefore, the easiest way for you to request assistance is through the Meu INSS application. It is available on both Android and iOS.
On the other hand, you can make the request through the INSS website.
After downloading and logging in, just go to the benefits section, click on sickness benefit and attach the requested documents.
Therefore, the National Social Security Institute will analyze your request. If you are denied, we recommend that you seek this right in court.
How to receive the benefit?
All government benefits are paid through Caixa Econômica Federal.
In fact, if you don't have an account at that bank, the government will open a free account that will only be used to receive the money.
