05. Four Bridges – HDI: 0.791
With 4,015 inhabitants, Quatro Pontes is a Brazilian municipality in Paraná that has the third highest HDI in the state, behind only the cities of Maringá and Curitiba, the capital. Like the previous ones, Quatro Pontes is also quite new, as it was only founded in 1990 after having achieved its emancipation from the city of Marechal Cândido Rondon, completing 30 “years” now in 2020.
Regarding Quatro Pontes' main sources of income, the three largest are the dairy sector, currently producing 11 million liters per year, fish farming and beef cattle. As for the latter, there is currently a mini-cold storage facility in the city, whose capacity could reach 250 head/week if it were expanded and modernized, which would generate 30 to 40 direct jobs. However, the population awaits public investment, as well as sponsorships aimed at its development.
